چکیده

A 64-year-old man presented with left-sided weakness with an initial NIH Stroke Scale score of 11. Brain CT imaging showed a hyperdense artery sign of right middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion (figure 1, A and B). Brain MRI showed the susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) on gradient recalled echo and hyperintense vessels (HV) on fluid-attenuated inversion recovery images (figure 1, C and D). Angiography demonstrated right MCA occlusion with well-developed pial collateral flow (figure 2). HV is not identical to hyperdense artery sign and SVS, which indicate intraluminal thrombus.1 HV may indicate slow collateral flow, not thrombus itself.2

The Frequency of Cerebral Microembolism in Acute Myocardial Infarction

ABSTRACT Introduction: Stroke is more common in patients with cerebral microembolisms. Frequency of cerebral microembolisms (high intensity transient signals, HITS) in acute myocardial infarction has been reported about 17%. The factors that influence on microembolism after myocardial infarction (MI) are not definitive. Type of MI, Ejection fraction, Hx of Streptokinase is the factors that were...

Contribution of Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS) Activity in Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption and Edema after Acute Ischemia/ Reperfusion in Aortic Coarctation-Induced Hypertensive Rats

Background: Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity is increased during hypertension and cerebral ischemia. NOS inactivation reduces stroke-induced cerebral injuries, but little is known about its role in blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption and cerebral edema formation during stroke in acute hypertension. Here, we investigated the role of NOS inhibition in progression of edema formation and BBB d...

Simulation study of Hemodynamic in Bifurcations for Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation using Electrical Analogy

Background and Objective: Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic is disease condition, results changes in the flow and pressure level in cerebral blood vessels. Measuring flow and pressure without catheter intervention along the vessel is big challenge due to vessel bifurcations/complex bifurcations in Arteriovenous Malformation patients. The vessel geometry in CAVM patients are...

Posttraumatic Cerebellar Infarction in a 2-year-old Child

Posttraumatic cerebral infarction is a rare complication and is an indicator of poor clinical outcome of head-trauma in spite of appropriate medical and surgical interventions. Cerebellar infarction following head trauma is also very rare and only a few reported cases are available in literatures. A 2-year-old child sustained head injury in a car accident and underwent surgery because of cerebr...

Retinopathy and lobar intracerebral hemorrhage: insights into pathogenesis.

BACKGROUND The vascular pathogenesis underlying lobar intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is unclear. OBJECTIVE To determine whether certain retinal microvascular signs are associated with lobar ICH to improve understanding of its underlying cerebral vasculopathy. DESIGN Prospective cohort study. SETTING Royal Melbourne Hospital and Westmead Hospital. PATIENTS Of 655 patients with acute stro...
